School Basics

The on-site school program is year-round and taught by a team of special education teachers who are also well versed in their subject specialties. It is set up such that teachers are able to target individual learning styles, so that students learn confidence in their ability to achieve. This is accomplished through careful programming and planned experiences of success and competence.

Class standards and content are matched to the requirements of the Massachusetts Frameworks curriculum guidelines and students receive specialized preparation and accommodations for MCAS. In addition, Castle offers SAT, PSAT and ACT testing on site with accommodations as needed.

Each student has a written individual educational plan, designed to both target their difficulties and to maximize their strengths. Castle School's academic program is both special education-approved by the Massachusetts Department of Education and diploma-granting through the Cambridge Public Schools. We work closely with home school districts to match their requirements, so students can return or graduate from their own high schools.
