Our program, through a longstanding special arrangement with the Cambridge Public Schools, provides access for our students to the local public high school. Once we assess they are ready, they are eligible to take a mainstreamed class at the school, a short walk from Castle School. This is not special education, and the expectation is that the student will be able, with support, to handle an experience in a normalized school setting.
Cambridge Rindge and Latin is a large diverse public high school with many opportunities for varied coursework and activities. When they attend, the clubs and activities offered by the high school are also open to them. A special guidance counselor at the high school works with us to help Castle students with their adjustment there.
